Selenay Mala is an architect, urban planner, and photographer based in Istanbul and Belgrade.
She was born in Istanbul in 2000.
She graduated from Istanbul Technical University’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning in 2023. Following her first degree, she gained experience working with public institutions and urban design offices. Driven by her continued interest in architecture, she completed a second undergraduate degree in Architecture at Istanbul Technical University in 2026, graduating with distinction.
Since 2025, she has been working as a freelance architectural designer, alongside developing her practice in architectural photography.
With a background in architecture and urban planning, she approaches photography with an understanding of the built environment and the relationships between space, light, material, and context. Her work focuses on architecture, interiors, and thoughtfully designed spaces.
She sees photography as a way of documenting spaces and preserving their character over time. Through her photographs, she aims to convey not only the physical qualities of a place, but also its atmosphere and the experience it offers, reflecting each environment through her own perspective and a considered, timeless visual approach.
